Council Resolution | Meadowbank Skate Park - Lighting Extension Trial

The Meadowbank Skate Park - Lighting Extension Trial was consider at the Council Meeting on Tuesday 24 February 2026.

Council Resolution

At the Council Meeting, it was resolved that Council:

(a) Endorses the extension of the lighting at Meadowbank Skate Park by one hour to 8.00pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights during Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) only. Additional signage is installed to be funded from the Sportsground Maintenance budget for 2025 / 2026.

(b) Notes that during Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT), the Meadowbank Skate Park lighting remains non-operational and the Skate Park closes at sunset.


Implementation

The extended lighting will commence from Thursday 8 April 2026, following the transition from daylight saving time to standard time.

The lighting system within the skate park will be programmed to extend the automatic shut-off to 8.00pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings only. Users activate the lights by pressing a button within the park. If the button is not activated, the lights remain off. The existing 7.00pm shut-off time will continue to apply from Sunday to Wednesday.
